Hello everyone,
We are building a KfW70 house. We would really like to install a range hood with external ventilation.
Is that possible?
Are there specific mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) systems that support this?
Best regards, Barossi

With Berbel, you often hear about it, but if you don’t get a display model, you really pay a lot of money.
Ours cost just under 260 euros.

I’m telling you, that’s the catch...
And yes, you also have moisture inside. However, for us, that’s quite welcome since we have very dry air almost all year round. In winter, it’s even at unhealthy levels.
In the new home (if the plot works out), the hood will also function as an exhaust. Then I can skip the filter and get the heat out of the house.
But even independent of the filter in recirculation mode, I can recommend this hood 100%! Very well made, very sturdy, extremely quiet with very strong extraction power, and the grease separation works perfectly even with frozen fries in oil. Cleaning is a dream—just wipe the surface and it's done.

The activated carbon filter is only for recirculated air operation. This was important for us, for example, because our current house has only a 100mm (4 inches) hole in the wall, which cannot easily be enlarged. This size is simply not sufficient for the extractor hood’s suction power. A 150mm (6 inches) opening is recommended.
The unit also requires an equal amount of supply air, which is often overlooked.
760m³/h (about 446 CFM) is a volume that cannot just be pulled through the house, not even with mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. It still creates quite a noticeable noise, even with a window tilted open.

Yep, we did it that way and only need the detector with a chimney.
I’m really glad we have an exhaust hood with ducting – no comparison to the recirculating stinkers anymore. Hello Sebastian,
does the exhaust hood with ducting work well with controlled mechanical ventilation? Do you have any issues with it? Is it necessary to open a window at the same time, or can the ventilation system be turned off when the hood is running?
Which model of hood do you have, and is it quiet?
