Hello,
while browsing, the name caught my attention.
We (4 people) will spend some time in the south during the summer, have booked a vacation in October (on the weekend), and the ski hotel.
So just casually spending 5,000 euros (about 5,500 dollars). I often struggle with whether to live life or save. We earn well, have hardly any loan payments, and will also receive an inheritance at some point.
What about you?

nordanney3 Jun 2020 11:29For me, living has nothing to do with building a house. I want to and can live with or without a house. You can’t measure that by money either. Everyone defines it differently.
For me, living also means family. That’s why I have been working from home for over 10 years and have watched my children grow up. That is priceless, so I reject other jobs. Aside from that, it’s still enough for three vacations a year, and every 3–4 years there is a new mid-range car in the driveway. Things are good.

What about you?Oh, we haven’t taken such inexpensive vacations in a long time. Were those some kind of Corona deals? We like to really treat ourselves when we travel. If after building a house we could only afford vacations like yours, we’d have to admit we miscalculated the cost of building. But maybe it will work out for you again once your loan is finally paid off in eight years. Until then, you just have to save a bit.Everyone just has their own perspective!

Which name caught your attention? I don’t really understand your initial question. Didn’t you live before building the house? Does life only start after building the house? Giving up a fifth vacation each year is considered "no life"?
We will probably be paying off the mortgage for another 10 years, yet we are still living our lives. With three students living in different cities who need support. Vacations were almost always possible. I do take a long time to consider new furniture purchases and even buying clothes. For me, that has nothing to do with living. That was the case in the rental apartment and has been the case for over 16 years now in the new house.

Barely enough for your understanding of living?Everyone defines "living" differently. For me, living means having family, a job, and my sport. So time for those. On vacation, the job is out, and I relax. Family and sport are still part of the holiday.

We will probably still be paying off the mortgage for another 10 years—and yet we are still living. With three students living in other cities who need support. Vacations have almost always been possible. I do really think twice about buying new furniture or clothes, though. For me, that has nothing to do with life. That was nice back when we rented, and now it’s been over 16 years in the new house. Actually, I also lived well with my wife back then. Even with less income, which fortunately improved positively over time. We had to scrape together every penny for the down payment since we had little savings. Accordingly, we only financed 250,000 (250k).
