Hello,

Quick question: how does the construction time of a bungalow compare to a multi-story house?

Of course, a slab foundation remains a slab foundation. But do you save time because you’re not building upwards, or does the wider footprint offset that?

Thanks!

Two masons can complete a straight floor of a single-family house in two to three days. For a bungalow, add one day due to its size.
The slopes of a gable take slightly longer but not significantly more time; this applies to a pitched roof regardless of the ceiling height. Additionally, erecting scaffolding is required.
Overall, the masonry work does not take a considerable amount of time.
This is something I have observed at several nearby construction sites.

You save time waiting for the floor slab, which is usually not needed in a bungalow. Depending on the design, this can save a lot of time because some companies only order it once the ground floor walls are completed. 🙂
