Hi,
We are considering hiring a building surveyor for the construction of our single-family house. We already have an architect from the construction company.
So my question is, should we bring in a building surveyor? They would be independent but might also cause some tensions!?
How many inspections would be reasonable? I often read about 8-10!?
What should the cost be?
And where can I find a reliable one?
I hope you can help me.
Regards, Sebastian

Loungeflow30 Mar 2024 20:27In 2020, we were supported by VQC (similar to TÜV). We were very satisfied, and the team was highly qualified. However, my project was not a new build but a complete renovation of a multi-family house from 1920 plus an extension. With their support, I was able to get to know the house very well, create a renovation plan, and always feel confident about the work being carried out. In other words, I received continuous advice and was able to communicate directly with the craftsmen from different trades, allowing me to ask the right questions. Before that, I had zero knowledge about construction and would definitely seek the expertise of a building surveyor again.
