More precisely, the filling line hose of the heating system came loose, and the shut-off valve was not completely closed.
The water meter shows 38 cubic meters (cubic yards), although I don’t know how much the masons and plasterers have used.

At least I was somewhat lucky in this misfortune. If the concrete mixer with 8 cubic meters (10.5 cubic yards) of screed had been waiting outside as planned, it would have been even more expensive.

I find a certain irony in the fact that this happened in the trade I actually trained in. It was stupidity. There’s no sugarcoating that.

Tomorrow the drying company is coming, charging 1100 euros plus electricity costs for the drying process.

Oh damn, I’m sorry to hear that. Very frustrating, but maybe not unusual given the temperatures.

Today the drying company is coming to set up the equipment.
The insurance will cover the costs of around 1500€ (approximately 1600 USD).

The positive side is that I get free building drying this way 🙂

Even more irony:
During my apprenticeship, we had a tradesman who was always obsessed with the heating system’s filling valves. A bit compulsive, he would check the shut-off valves three times each to make sure they were really closed. It became a running joke on every site… “Hey Martin, have you checked the filling valves today?”
We all used to have a great laugh about it.

I guess this is what you call karma :p

We have been waiting for two years for the development of a new residential area in our town. The plan was to sell our current house afterward.
Today I found out that the development was sold to a regional general contractor.
That felt like a punch in the stomach. Obviously, I will never be able to build as affordably with the general contractor as I could before. It’s really quite frustrating.
:-(

You are already building, aren't you? Or is that the house for the opponent?

The current situation is the basic requirement, and the third step should be more of an optional improvement. The current circumstances are rather suboptimal. We have always wanted to live in a newly developed residential area.
