Hello everyone,

Our house is finished in terms of pure planning.

We are building our house ourselves. There will be an entrance canopy (wooden structure) in front of the house, and the terrace (concrete slab will be poured together with the floor joist on the upper floor) in the garden will also be covered.
We want to install columns under the entrance canopy and also on the terrace beneath the slab. Now we are considering how to set these up. My husband thinks we should install them at the same time as the slab is poured on the upper floor. Before that, foundations for the columns will be poured into the ground. We do not want simple straight columns but ones in a Greek style.
The terrace floor itself will not be done right away but only after we have moved in.

Attached are pictures of a show home. That is how we want it to look eventually. How would you approach this?
Pour the terrace slab immediately? Or place the columns first on separate foundations and install the terrace afterward?

Best regards

That is probably also a matter of structural engineering, which a layperson cannot answer.

Hello,

I believe @Elina is probably absolutely right.

We also have a column in the entrance area that supports the upper floor. For this column, an additional isolated footing was poured at the same time as the basement slab, onto which a concrete column (in the ground) was fixed, serving as the base for the visible column.

Regards,
