Hello everyone,

I am currently in a situation where I need to remodel and expand my existing house (built in 1980).

At the moment, I have a fairly large room in the basement (directly accessible to the garden behind the house) which is used as a laundry room. The plan is to divide this room, with about two-thirds of the space becoming a new bathroom. Hot and cold water, drainage, and heating are available, but I have not yet consulted a professional to confirm feasibility.

A new extension (approximately 4x3 meters (13x10 feet), with one door, one window, and electrical installations) is to be built, which will then be used as the laundry room. The ceiling of the extension will also serve as a new balcony for the upper apartment. Additionally, a window is to be installed in the exterior wall of the existing room.

This might sound complicated, but it is actually not that difficult. Still, I am facing a lot of questions and am not sure how to proceed.

What should be done first?
Should I consult a plumbing professional to check the feasibility of the bathroom?
Or should I first talk to an architect to plan the extension?
I would prefer not to have the bathroom planned by the architect due to cost concerns.

Maybe one of you can help me move forward.
The project is planned to be completed by mid-2014.

Thanks in advance,
Benny
