HungryJack8219 Feb 2021 07:23Hello dear experts,
This is again about the topic of carports.
We are planning a carport with an area of 7.75 x 4.1 meters (25.4 x 13.5 feet).
This puts the carport over the 30 m² (323 ft²) limit for which a request for exemption can be filed. However, it is partially outside the building envelope.
The carport is planned to be built directly attached to the existing house, therefore under the house’s roof overhang. This roof overhang covers 0.3 x 7.75 meters (1 x 25.4 feet) of the carport.
If you subtract this area, which is already covered anyway, the remaining area would be under 30 m² (323 ft²), thus falling within the scope of a simplified procedure with an exemption request.
My specific question: can the 0.3 x 7.75 meters (1 x 25.4 feet) of the roof overhang of our single-family house be deducted from the carport area?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Why do you have such unusual dimensions?
Too big for one car and too small for two.
Just submit with 3.87 m (12.7 ft).
Show the details with the building envelope and the plot. The parking spaces are larger but located on a curve and directly by the road. Unfortunately, we have to maintain a setback from the road, which is why these awkward measurements result.

? And what does that mean now?He means that the overhang doesn’t matter to anyone because it is not counted as part of the built-up area, and its positioning there doesn’t help you.Similar topics
