Hello everyone,

Construction has finally started at our site.
I would like to share my experiences, concerns, and questions about the house building process here to get feedback from experienced people.
So, it’s kind of a small building diary.

The earthworks have been completed with the delivery of 340 tons of sand for backfilling, and the trenches for the strip foundation have also been prepared.
The steel mesh for reinforcement is ready on site.

Now the date for the slab foundation is set.
Pipes for wastewater and the multi-utility connection need to be installed, the foundation grounding conductor has to be laid, a drainage membrane has to be placed, reinforcement tied, and formwork set up.
Is all of this achievable in one day, including the concrete delivery?

Before I provide more details, I’d like to hear your opinions.

Best regards

No. He was only on site on the day the foundation slab was to be poured.
I fulfilled my responsibility as the client and expressed my concerns about the driveway—well in advance.
So I’m in the clear, right?

I would see it the same way. The problem is that even if you are right, companies usually act stubborn when money is involved. Then the question is, when do you want to have your house completed...
Really a frustrating situation.

Sorry, but I am not paying an additional 6,500 euros (about 7,100 US dollars) for something I did not cause. Proven fact...

Not as much collapsed as predicted.
Why was there a concrete pump on site if the reinforcement wasn’t even in place yet? That doesn’t make much sense.
What does the contract relationship look like?
Simply put, in an extreme case, if you ordered the concrete and the contract states that the client (AG) must provide access, it would be your problem.

As mentioned before, they wanted to pour everything at once.
Once the concrete pump had left, the workers started again.
The concrete was ordered by the construction company.

The second attempt to pour the slab has now also taken place.

Again, the site manager called me around noon to say they had to stop.
This time, the pump broke down before they could start.
However, the concrete mixers were able to access the site, allowing two trucks to unload, so at least 90% of the foundation was poured.
For the third attempt, a road closure is now required, which I am supposed to organize.

Something definitely isn’t right here.
The crew left again this time without finishing the formwork and installing the reinforcement. That would be pointless, right?
