Hello,
we are currently planning our house construction, and my partner has scheduled an appointment with the building consultancy Almondia. He hopes to receive professional advice for us as inexperienced first-time builders regarding the choice of construction company, planning, budgeting, and so on.
I, on the other hand, am wondering whether this company is trustworthy or if they only promote and refer paying companies (similar to various insurance comparison websites). The reviews for the company are quite positive—except for complaints about a fee of 1500 euros if you do NOT proceed with Almondia as the intermediary after the consultation... Hmm.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Best regards and thanks in advance
Miriam

whether this company is reputable or if only paying companies are being promoted and recommended hereBoth possibilities are not mutually exclusive, and the concept is even explained that way on the website: the advice for the builder is free because the companies recommended pay commissions to cover it. I don’t know their contracts, but logically I expect there to be some clause preventing the builder from taking advantage of advice that generates no commissions. They mention a figure of 700 referred companies—I assume this includes prefab home manufacturers, traditional construction firms, developers, and possibly garage manufacturers, etc.—but it still represents a sufficiently broad selection.Without knowing the company, I therefore expect that the advice can truly be free of charge for the builder, but there will likely be a consultancy contract—and as always, you should read carefully what you sign.
And as I said, advice is also available here in the forum. The deal is this: you ask questions (and respond to follow-ups) and get the answers you want for free; in return, you also accept answers that may be less pleasing (for example, that a house that is too large cannot be built cheaply, or that you can’t have a townhouse on a bungalow plot, or that your walk-in closet is planned too narrow).

Hello,
we have decided against building and will buy instead. Therefore, I cannot provide any information about Almondia. However, I am still following the topic with interest – it is quite fascinating to find out whether choosing Almondia would have been a good decision for us.
Best regards

We canceled the meeting with the consultant (he would have traveled from Berlin to our remote location in Brandenburg) several days in advance. The "consultation contract" would only have come into effect during the meeting.
Therefore, I can confirm with certainty the following statement: Simply contacting Almondia, as well as a canceled consultation appointment, do not incur any costs.
