ᐅ Connection between the garden and the prefabricated house (timber frame construction)

BauherrchenHi everyone.
We are currently dealing with the following issue: We want to connect the garden to the house (above the drip edge – and no, we don’t want to stay below it) at the exterior plaster. Normally, this is not allowed due to rising or potentially penetrating moisture.
It is recommended to install a mesh or similar directly on the house (plaster). For this, a curb or edge stone is needed at a distance of 10–30cm (4–12 inches) from the house (depending on the mesh), as well as expensive brackets to support the construction. Well, this is neither very attractive nor really cost-effective, unless you go for the cheapest, ugly option. Even then, it can get quite costly if you install over 50 meters (164 feet) of mesh around the house before starting with the garden, terrace, or driveway (paving).
I simply can’t believe I am the only homeowner facing this problem, so I hope some enthusiastic house builders here can share great suggestions and ideas.
Please help me!!! 🙂

WilderSueden11 Mar 2024 16:04There are good reasons why manufacturers require a minimum distance of 15cm (6 inches) from the drip edge to the surface below. When moisture penetrates the wood, it can rot very quickly. Most people follow this rule and only put the extra effort into making a direct connection at the terrace. If you don’t want to do this, you will need to resort to expensive specialized solutions.
