Hello,
we are currently in the final phase of our new build. After various issues, we are actually on a good path to complete it soon.
Unfortunately, the washing machine connection in the utility room, which is listed in the scope of work, was forgotten.
We noticed this and reported it immediately. The room is already fully tiled, painted, and the sink installed.
The general contractor will probably want to make the connection at the sink. Do we have to accept this, or can we insist on installing the connection inside the wall?
Best regards

which is listed in the scope of work. It would be interesting to know if it was also included in the plans. The scope of work can contain many items that might not be incorporated into the actual design if an agreement or change is made during planning. For example, in our case, a sink in the utility room is listed in the scope of work, but we excluded it from the plans by choice.
And why did you only notice this now? It doesn't sound like you live 100km (62 miles) away. As the client, you usually check many details on the construction site…

Presumably, the water supply and drain from the sink will be used, yes.
I think the effort to reroute everything inside the wall is no longer reasonable. Besides, the washing machine and the sink will cover most (if not all) of it, so there's no need to be overly particular now.
However, I would try to negotiate something, like a dedicated electrical circuit for the washing machine or a built-up platform. Something that adds clear value. The question is whether it is even that simple to use the sink’s water supply. In our case, the water pipe runs inside the wall up to the faucet. From there, the supply was split off as a separate valve, but of course, it’s already concealed in the wall. That wouldn’t be feasible afterwards. And the washing machine definitely needs its own water valve.
A separate electrical circuit for the washing machine is standard.

Hello,
I wanted to get in touch again. Since we had a power outlet for the washing machine, we have now agreed to connect it directly at the sink. Unfortunately, it seems there was a communication issue. The construction description only mentioned the connection, but nothing specific. This was discussed afterwards. It will still get a faucet, but since it is right next to the sink, this should not be a problem.
