Hello everyone,

This year, I am insulating my house with 160mm (6.3 inches) of insulation material.

Attached to the house is a flat-roofed single garage (uninsulated roof with gravel) that is directly connected to the exterior wall.
There is also a balcony without a roof covering (the slab is separate from the house wall).

Both areas will be renovated as part of the refurbishment (new floor covering, waterproofing, etc.).
What should I consider regarding protection, waterproofing, and similar issues for the roof surface and the balcony?
Which preparatory works are necessary before installing the insulation, and what needs to be done afterward?

For example, I have read that a “recess” is incorporated into the insulation at the garage to create a kind of drip edge.

I have come across similar topics in the forum, but if I have missed a relevant discussion, please feel free to point me to it.

I would appreciate any experiences and opinions regarding the procedure.
I can provide pictures if needed.

Thank you very much!
