Hello everyone,

I want to replace the manual roller shutter strap winder with an electric one. Although it can be connected to the socket using a 2-core cable with a Europlug, I don’t find that visually appealing. So, I’m considering chiseling a channel in the wall with a hammer and chisel from the socket, which is just a few centimeters away, and running the cable inside the wall to the socket. It would make sense to connect the cable directly to the socket because, on the one hand, it looks cleaner, and on the other hand, I could then use the socket for other purposes as well. Now my question is: is it that simple? Since the cable from the strap winder is only 2-core, I wonder if that is okay because it lacks a ground wire. I wouldn’t do the connection myself, but would ask an electrician to do it. However, I could save the effort of making the channel and the work for the flush-mounted solution if this is not possible. Thanks in advance.

For this reason, I would also strongly advise against it due to the "missing grounding." 🙄

Direct connection is possible because the belt winder is double insulated and therefore no protective earth (PE) is required.

It’s possible. But please have it done by a professional.

...I have now installed it and it works (see photo). I haven’t connected it yet. I will probably try to replace the flexible cable with a rigid one. However, then I’ll have the problem that I probably won’t be able to easily remove the belt winder after plastering.

White multi-socket module on the wall, flexible cable, next to two square switches and a round button.

The conduit should terminate inside the switch box and also inside the housing of the belt winder, not far before it.

You have already received quite a few suggestions in the green forum. What information are you still missing?
