Hello,

I’m not sure which cables need to be connected together. Could someone possibly help me here? It’s strange that the black cable always shows voltage with a non-contact voltage tester, but it’s not switched.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I think it’s quite smart to run a phase that is independent of the switch.

I actually had to disable our switch for the mirror in the guest bathroom because the mirror has a built-in clock that resets to 0:00 every time the power goes out. 🙄
In the main bathroom, we also control the mirror cabinet externally, but that disables the socket inside the mirror cabinet.
That means you can’t charge the electric toothbrush through that socket.

Both issues can probably be fixed later using a Shelly or a similar device.

It was and still is standard practice to run an unswitched live wire to the mirror. In the past, large mirrored cabinets (Alibert) were common, which included a socket for the shaver, etc. To use this without turning on the light, a constant live feed is required. Nowadays, mirrors often have heating, radios, clocks, and similar features that also need a constant live supply.
