Oberhäslich9 Feb 2023 14:14Are you abroad? Maybe black is a second live wire connected directly without a switch. In that case, yellow and beige/white should correspond to blue/brown. Otherwise, if it doesn’t work like in the photo, just try swapping blue and brown. If that doesn’t help, you would need to remove the wall switch and take a look inside...

xMisterDx9 Feb 2023 19:26I might consider calling an electrician who can open the switch and take a look... or do you also install your car's brake yourself, just following instructions from a forum like "Yeah, just turn that part around, then it might work"...

WilderSueden10 Feb 2023 08:16Normally, connecting lights is straightforward. The wire colors are standardized, so blue goes to blue, and so on. And if something goes wrong, the RCD just trips 😉
This is not comparable to car brakes, at best to bicycle brakes. Most people change those themselves. In this case, however, it would definitely be helpful to know where the original poster is located and from which period the electrical system dates.

You seriously believe an electrician will come for that? As a family with little DIY skills who recently faced this situation, I can confirm your impression: electricians unfortunately don’t stand on street corners holding “will cable for food” signs. We had saved up and had several lighting and minor electrical tasks, and even then we couldn’t find an electrician. In the end, we found a small moving company that helped us for a few hours and got the work done.
