ᐅ Widening concrete fence posts

Hello,
I have old fence posts that are set in concrete in the ground. They are made of concrete. I now have new fence panels that are narrower than the old ones, and I would like to widen the existing fence posts. My idea was to create a formwork and simply apply concrete with a thickness of 3–7 cm (1.2–2.8 inches) using the formwork.
The existing posts are painted with wall paint. My concern is that the new concrete might not bond properly with the old one. How can this be prevented? Or does anyone perhaps have another idea?
I look forward to your replies.
Best regards
Michael

It may be compressively strong, but what is relevant here is flexural stiffness or buckling resistance.

Also, anchors will not hold in this material itself, although you can still fix this stuff to something solid with anchors.

I think everyone here wants to tell you: Don’t mess around with this “botched” approach. Do it right from the start, and you will enjoy it for a long time.

If money is tight right now, wait and then do it properly.

In terms of material costs, I see this as manageable even for a “new build,” but the “correct” way just requires more labor.
