Hello,
our construction has finally started, and already there are new questions...

Currently, our basement is being built. Once the basement ceiling is completed, there will be a quiet period because a two-week work break follows.

Some say this is great, as it allows the basement to dry a bit, while others believe it is a complete waste of time and are quite frustrated about it.

We can’t change anything, and personally, I prefer a slow and thorough approach, but I’m interested in the professional opinion.

Of course, we understand that the basement will not be fully “dry” after the two weeks...

Hello,

that’s actually no problem at all.
You mentioned a "concrete basement." I assume it was made from precast components that were assembled and then concreted. My suggestion (which I also followed) is simply to protect it from rain using plastic sheeting and boards – that’s all. Air can circulate well through the window openings and so on.
And if it’s as hot as it is currently, make sure to keep the basement ceiling well watered…

@Cascada, no, these are not prefabricated components.

Oh, I thought that concrete basements are always assembled from precast parts that are poured on site. Moisture is usually not a big issue with them...

Best regards...
