Hello craftsmen!
As mentioned above, we want to completely close off an unused staircase that currently leads from our apartment down to the basement unit. Removing the staircase itself is not a problem so far. But what comes next? The closed-off area should then be accessible and possibly serve as an extension of the existing small bathroom. Since we will not be using this area, a detailed guide would be helpful to give us an idea of what to expect and what parts we might be able to do ourselves.
If more information is needed, please let us know. Otherwise, we are curious about how this process is carried out and what it entails.
Best regards,
Melanie

baumann4217 Jan 2018 15:14Bond reinforcing bars into the concrete slab, form and pour the hole from below, and restore the existing floor structure. Alternatively, install a wooden beam construction from below, close it with drywall, add insulation, OSB board, and a dry screed. If the apartments are occupied separately, the concrete solution would be better for soundproofing.
