Hello, we want to install a rainwater harvesting system for our house and garden project.

Does anyone know a good supplier with a good price/performance ratio?

It will be used for 3 (in a few years 4) people. Garden size about 150-200 m² (1600-2150 sq ft).

Is a 5000 l (1300 gal) tank sufficient?
With automatic or demand-based drinking water top-up?

I was told at the environmental office that the investment hardly ever pays off. You don’t save as much water as you spend on the system. It can also break down sometimes... which means even more costs are involved.

I decided against something like that.

When I see the prices for a greywater recycling system like that, I am completely shocked.

And honestly, I think it’s possible to build something like this yourself.

That’s right! Sometimes having your own well can be very useful as well 😉

Yes, a well is definitely not a bad idea 😉
I am planning to do something like that right away, too.

Is it actually legal, or do you need a building permit / planning permission?
In the construction advice office, they couldn’t give me a clear answer, and I didn’t feel like going separately to the groundwater authority...
