Burn3r19859 Apr 2021 21:10Hello everyone,
I’m looking for ideas or opinions regarding my project. Due to a change in the floor coverings, there is a height difference of 5 to 6 mm (0.2 to 0.24 inches) between the hallway and the adjacent rooms on the upper floor. The hallway is tiled. Originally, we planned to install click vinyl flooring.
Now, the adjacent rooms are all supposed to have the same click vinyl. The vinyl thickness is 6.5 mm (0.26 inches), including the underlayment for impact sound insulation. The tiles with adhesive measure between 11.5 and 12.5 mm (0.45 to 0.49 inches).
Our tiler suggested leveling the floor near the door areas by applying a leveling compound over about 1 m² (11 sq ft) and then using a silicone joint instead of a transition strip. Is this a good idea? If you think it’s doable, which type of leveling compound would you recommend?
If that suggestion is not suitable, what alternatives are there? Maybe a recommendation for a nice transition strip?
Raising the entire floor by 5 to 6 mm (0.2 to 0.24 inches) with leveling compound is definitely not an option.
Are there special mats that can be placed underneath without affecting the underfloor heating?
I would appreciate your ideas and advice very much.
Best regards,
Alex

Our tiler suggested applying filler around the door areas, about 1 m² (11 sq ft), and later using a silicone joint instead of a transition profile. The expert is certainly right!Burn3r1985 schrieb:
