Hello everyone,
I hope the topic description fits my question. Our house is now turnkey ready. The electrician rolled up all the network cables and hung them under the circuit breaker panel in the utility room.
For cost reasons, I would like to connect the cables to the patch panel myself.
I have 6 network outlets in the house. So I need a patch panel with at least 6 ports. A network switch and a Fritz!Box are already available.
Which patch panel would you recommend?
What else do I need to connect to the patch panel?
The "small thin gray" cable is the telephone connection, right? Which connector do I need for that?
I hope you can give me a bit of guidance.

So, my NAS is located up in the attic. Basically, I imagined it this way: the switch behind the patch panel is connected to the Fritz box. From there, everything gets access to the "outside"! The NAS in the attic, the individual receivers in the living room, bedroom, and kids' room, the desktop PC in the office, and so on.
The issue with the attic might be related to the theft?
I am also worried that if there is a break-in, the NAS could be stolen.
Since around 2002, I have only used digital cameras, so all our pictures have been digital since then.
In 2004, I already lost many pictures due to a virus.

You can definitely "hide" the NAS somewhere in the wall cavity. However, it makes more sense to have all components together, especially when something isn’t working as it should.
Regarding your photos, or backups in general: you should never, ever keep all your data on just one storage device. I have my photos stored on 3 or 4 hard drives, all with the same data.
