Hello everyone,

I hope the topic description fits my question. Our house is now turnkey ready. The electrician rolled up all the network cables and hung them under the circuit breaker panel in the utility room.

For cost reasons, I would like to connect the cables to the patch panel myself.

I have 6 network outlets in the house. So I need a patch panel with at least 6 ports. A network switch and a Fritz!Box are already available.

Which patch panel would you recommend?
What else do I need to connect to the patch panel?

The "small thin gray" cable is the telephone connection, right? Which connector do I need for that?

I hope you can give me a bit of guidance.

As I mentioned earlier: true roaming is only possible with devices that cost around 400-500 Euros (about 430-540 US dollars) or more.

I have three access points (I count the FritzBox as an access point) on three levels, all with the same SSID, the same WPA2 key, and otherwise—as far as possible, since the devices are different—all settings are the same.

This way, roaming works reasonably well, with only a very brief interruption. I only have recurring issues towards the basement, which is probably due to the FritzBox :-/.

Oh, and each access point must have its own fixed wireless channel; otherwise, the handover doesn’t work very well.

That’s how I’m going to implement it as well.
Here in the apartment, I am currently using a Wi-Fi extender (both 2.4 and 5 GHz). The router in the living room and the extender in the hallway, however, have different SSIDs. This way, I can see which one the device is connected to and can also force the connection if needed.

...and you only have half the network power left, but the main thing is to push hard

Because it is a repeater (:
Inside the house, I use a corresponding access point

2) Fritzbox on the ground floor, DSL comes through the telephone socket from the basement, LAN cable runs back down to the basement. Additional access point on the first floor.
That is the better solution for me.

How do you plan to handle handoff between the access points in the Wi-Fi? I mean, when going upstairs, is the connection transferred seamlessly to another access point?
I have an access point on the upper floor (FRITZ!WLAN Repeater 450E, plugged into a power outlet and connected with a short LAN cable to the adjacent LAN port). Since I don’t use my phone while walking up the stairs, I can’t say if the handoff is seamless :P. At least we have "seamless" Wi-Fi on the upper floor.

Disclaimer: Although it is called a repeater, it can also be operated as an access point.
