Hello everyone!

We are currently working on the exterior plastering and now we are wondering how to finish the base of the walls. We want to make it stand out from the rest of the walls. We originally thought of a dark gray (anthracite) base since the roof, windows, and shutters are all in that color.

However, we’ve come across colored pebble dash plaster in anthracite. It is said to be more durable and easier to clean in case it gets dirty. Cleaning it should be easier than with “regular” plaster.

Is that true? Does anyone have experience with this? So far, I haven’t found any real downsides, except that the style might not appeal to everyone.

By the way, we are building a bungalow.

Best regards,

that it doesn’t appeal to everyone’s taste.
That (and as far as I know, the price) is decisive. I have seen it a lot in houses inhabited by Turkish people; it seems to be "in" there.
I personally find it downright ugly (personal taste).

With our general contractor, the price is actually the same.
That’s why we are still considering it.
However, I sometimes find it a bit outdated, while in other photos it looks good again.
I am torn.

I don’t like that at all either. Fortunately, our general contractor already extended the plaster all the way down 7 years ago.

Terribly ugly... And yes, very outdated.

The question is how the house is positioned. On a hillside location, a stepped foundation can have a very appealing visual effect.
