Hello everyone,

We originally planned to cover two of our bathroom walls with pastel-colored tiles up to the ceiling (the T-shaped wall lighter and the wider wall behind it a bit darker). The other walls (except the area around the sink) should remain un-tiled and simply painted white.

Now I want to look into wall paints that are suitable for wet areas. How easy are they to maintain? Can you use a squeegee to remove water after showering? Should you do this regularly? Do you have to repaint them every 5-10 years because the paint loses breathability over time?

How do the prices of moisture-resistant paints for wet areas compare?

Here is the rough floor plan:

Bathroom floor plan: sink left, cabinet left, bathtub center, toilet and shower right.

Would you advise against using these types of wet-area paints or do you have positive experiences? Is it a cost-effective alternative to tiling?

Thank you very much

Tile or paint is a matter of personal preference. With tiles, you simply have many more options.
As for the paint itself, aside from protecting the wall just as well as tiles, I can't say much more.

You have every option when it comes to color as well.
For example, the company Dold offers such systems. You can apply it just like tile grout... or try searching for “seamless bathroom.”

Color-wise, yes, but structurally, no.

Also regarding the structure. From completely smooth to textured. It is just a matter of technique. The final protection is usually provided by a coating (ranging from high gloss to matte).

And how do you plan to achieve brick, mosaic, waves, stone, etc. using wall paint?
