Hello,
we are in the middle of planning our house with two full stories.
The plot has a slope, and we plan to make use of it.
In the basement level (KG) there will be a nice room at the south/west corner. However, the building regulations do not allow a third full story, so we cannot choose the window height plus the sill height as in the other floors.
To get more light, we have planned double casement windows with each sash being 1.135m (3.7 feet) wide, resulting in a total width of 2.27m (7.5 feet).
The developer told us it is unclear whether there will only be one roller shutter or if it might be divided.
This raises the question about the appearance – we plan the window frames in RAL 7012 Basalt Grey.
1) With the window closed from the inside, the roller shutter profiles in the middle would hardly be visible – however, they would be in the field of view with the window open.
2) From the outside, these roller shutter profiles are always visible – so what then?
We have only selected the color of the roller shutter slats. What color are the roller shutter profiles usually? The same as the window frames or the slats?
Thank you!

Yes, this is just a guess. Your window supplier should be able to answer this question immediately.

1) When the window is closed from the inside, the roller shutter profiles in the middle would hardly be visible – however, they would be in the line of sight when the window is open. As far as I understand, this concerns a 2.27m (7.4 feet) wide window, decorated centrally with a twin guide rail for a two-part roller shutter. Just considering that alone, it doesn’t sound ideal, especially knowing you could get advice here in the forum, yet you are working on your plan only with a general contractor. Seeing your wardrobe thread as well, I’m afraid you’ll end up with fifteen threads on individual topics – most likely unlinked to each other – so advisors won’t be able to help holistically.
