We are currently at the shell construction stage and have received red facing bricks. The bricks are the “Depp” type, water-struck red – multicolored. They come with a white joint that has a slight yellowish tint. The bricks are quite irregular in size.
Looking at the wall now, I get the impression that the person doing the pointing was rather sloppy. Some bricks appear smeared—not much, but noticeable. What should I do? How much could I reasonably deduct per square meter, and can the bricks still be cleaned properly after the joints have been finished?
Additionally, there is a 4cm (1.6 inches) gap under a lintel where no brick fit. Does something like this need to be sealed? Should I insist on this being fixed?
I would really appreciate some advice!

Hello,
I would insist on a repair for the stained facing bricks; they need to be cleaned off with hydrochloric acid.
The 4cm (1.5 inches) gap needs to be closed; it is also possible to cut a facing brick to size.
Best regards
