ᐅ Click vinyl flooring – Which thermal insulation?

Hello everyone,

We are currently in the process of choosing our flooring. At the moment, we are leaning towards click vinyl.

I’m wondering if there is a type of flooring that actually helps to reduce the feeling of cold underfoot? I don’t have underfloor heating (we use gas radiators). In addition, we have a 120cm (47 inch) high crawl space. Now I am wondering if our feet will feel cold once the click vinyl is installed?

The previous owner had several runners/carpets, and I never walked barefoot inside the house. So I don’t know how it really feels.

Or would it make more sense to insulate the ceiling of the crawl space if cold feet are a concern?

I know… it’s all very theoretical… but the question just came to my mind.

I thought so after all...
The positive thing is that there is time, and I can take care of everything calmly over time. The crawl space is easily accessible...
I will observe this during the winter and then see how living without insulation from below works out.

Thanks for the support!

I’ve decided against click vinyl on the side.

Visually, I don’t see any difference compared to the newer laminate floors. And just because it says "design" on it, I’m not going to pay 37 EUR per square meter (around $37 per square meter). No need.

I have looked at various parquet floors, and natural oak really caught my eye. However, the downsides are hard for me to overlook. It all looks high-quality and great, but I tend to change my furniture and décor often, so I have to reluctantly give up on parquet. The sensitivity to light and the resulting color changes really bother me.

And if the laminate ends up looking bad once installed, then I’ll just go with parquet. There’s no other way...
