Hello everyone, does anyone have experience installing click vinyl flooring over existing tiles in a house? How does this work with underfloor heating? Thanks

Hi

You can install click vinyl flooring over ceramic tiles, but it needs to be done properly to achieve a good finish. It's important to choose good-quality vinyl for the best results.

Kind regards, koli

However, I have also read that with click vinyl flooring, it is sufficient to place a soundproofing underlay on top of the tiles and install the flooring over it, without causing any issues with the tiles underneath later on.

Can anyone provide some insight on this (we do not have underfloor heating).

I would also generally advise against click vinyl flooring. Instead of tiles in the living room, we chose a microcement design. It is only about 3 mm (0.12 inches) thick and is applied directly over the existing tiles. It also looks very exclusive. This way, you save the step of installing vinyl and get a durable floor that works well with underfloor heating. I’m happy to share the company’s contact, but I don’t want to make any advertising here.

How much does microcement usually cost? Is it also in the range of 150 euros per square meter (approximately 14 USD per square foot), like screed?

No, I would say you’re looking at around 60-80€ per square meter (10-7.4 per square foot). It depends on how many square meters you have and which provider you use, as well as what arrangements you make with the company.
