ᐅ Cleaning high, hard-to-reach roof windows / skylights in the gallery?

Hello,
our house has one and a half stories and a mezzanine above the dining area. We are planning to install two skylights there, mainly to let in natural light.
Now we have two questions, the more important one first:
The windows will be approximately 5.5 m (18 feet) above the floor. How can these be cleaned? Setting up a ladder is not possible due to the slope of the roof. What suggestions do you have, or how do you manage this?
Second, we have so far considered fixed glazing for the windows. Does anyone happen to have skylights in a mezzanine and can share whether there is a noticeable pleasant airflow in summer if they can be opened? Or is this effect negligible, so that one could save the additional cost?
Thank you very much

wiltshire7 Aug 2025 12:23We have a "hard-to-reach window" from Roto located at about 5m (16 feet) high. I always wanted to buy a suitable ladder for it (A-frame with extension). Well, you know how quickly things get done. We have a telescopic pole and clean the window occasionally, over long intervals. Because of the slope (27° in our case), the cleaning frequency stays at a manageable level. Our tolerance for this dirty window is probably not standard, but cleaning it 2-4 times a year, depending on location and exposure, should be enough for anyone who pays a bit of attention.
The window is more practical than inconvenient. I would choose to install it the same way again.

Now two questions have come up: I only have one question: why don’t you simply link to the plans of your probably yet-to-be-born and avoidable problem instead of using many words?https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/
