I recently started my own business and have realized that I hardly have any time left for household chores. Yes, I guess every homeowner dreams of having a cleaning service, but of course, the cost is not insignificant.

So my question is: Can I claim the expenses for the cleaning service on my taxes, perhaps even classify them as a business expense? After all, this service ensures that I can keep working, otherwise I would eventually be overwhelmed by chaos! :o

Hi!

Good question. I believe this only works if the cleaning service is responsible for your business premises. However, if your office is located at home, this could probably be interpreted more broadly, so to speak. But I am not entirely sure about that.

I can only agree with the previous speaker. I also think that the cleaning person should be responsible only for business-related tasks if their services can be deducted for business purposes. However, as far as I know, you can include the "private" cleaning person as part of your work-related expenses at the end of the year.

Hello

If you have a proper contract with the cleaning service, insure them appropriately, and transfer the payment, this falls under "household-related services" in this context. You can claim these expenses for tax purposes up to a certain amount. However, it’s best to ask your local tax office—they will surely provide you with information. You can also inquire anonymously by phone ;-)
