Hello
We just installed laminate flooring and want it to look good for as long as possible. How should we clean it properly? There are so many cleaning products available that it’s hard to know which ones are actually good. We also have a steam cleaner – can I use it for cleaning, or is it better not to? What do you think?

Hello,
There are special laminate cleaners available for this. You can buy them at a hardware or home improvement store, and they are not expensive.

Best regards

Hello,

I’m not entirely sure, but I would personally avoid using a steam cleaner on laminate flooring in the long run. There is a significant risk that the laminate will swell because the fine steam easily penetrates grooves and edges. The standard laminate cleaner (which is often labeled as such) contains additives that both prevent streaking and seal the grooves with every wipe. I can only recommend this; anything else seems like a bit of a gamble to me! 😉

It is very important to clean laminate floors with only a slightly damp cloth.

Hi,

I also thought I could clean our laminate flooring with a steam cleaner. But the flooring installer warned me against it. The moisture can damage the laminate. I now vacuum the laminate and use a mild cleaning agent. It is only wiped with a slightly damp cloth.

Best regards

Hello,

Under no circumstances use a steam cleaner. I only wipe it with a slightly damp cloth, and for that I use a special laminate cleaner. Then I go over it with a flat mop, and everything looks good again.

Best regards
