Hello everyone,
I have the following issue. In the guest bathroom, tiles were removed and the area needs to be redone. However, not all walls will be tiled this time; some parts will be wallpapered or plastered. Now, I still have adhesive residue on the wall, which is difficult to remove. Even if I manage to remove everything, the wall surface is not really smooth afterwards.
At the hardware store, I found some kind of insulation boards that are not very thick and can be wallpapered directly.

Is it okay to install something like this on the walls without any problems? It would save me a lot of effort with filling and smoothing, etc.
Or do you have any other suggestions? From my point of view, it’s definitely not a solution for everywhere, but I think it’s sufficient for the guest bathroom. If I understood the tiler correctly, he wanted to clad a similar wall in the main bathroom with a Wedi board. Thanks

So, you could probably also use insulation boards, but basically, I would most likely cover the wall with drywall panels or something similar (e.g., Wedi). You can also glue them in place; for a guest bathroom, a green moisture-resistant drywall panel should be sufficient.

The problem is that the Wedi board is corrugated, not flat. That’s why I was considering this other board. Drywall is definitely thicker than 4mm (0.16 inches), or are there such thin drywall panels as well?

Wedi or drywall. Both work well. In construction, the rule is: one centimeter (0.4 inches) is not a fixed measure.

Renoboard - as far as I know, 6mm (1/4 inch) thick, similar to drywall panels. Simply glue them on. Cheap, fast, smooth – then you can wallpaper, paint, or tile over them.

Gypsum plasterboard is available in 9mm (0.35 inches) thickness plus adhesive. Applying joint compound and wallpapering = effective and affordable!
