in my garden, I have a straight wall (W: 5m (16.4 ft), H: 1m (3.3 ft)) made of square garden blocks.
It doesn’t look very attractive visually. Therefore, I am thinking about how to improve the appearance of the wall. I have considered either plastering the wall with cement-lime render and painting it with latex paint or cladding it with facing bricks. Or is there a better option (I know this is always relative)?
What would you suggest? I appreciate any recommendations.

Hello Felix,
Is the wall backfilled? If so, has it also been waterproofed on the backside? Otherwise, water might quickly accumulate behind your cladding or render, and everything could flake off again during winter. You should keep that in mind.
An acquaintance simply built a new wall in front of it. However, I would find that to be too much loss of space and too thick.

our neighbor has the same problem, he is cladding his stone wall with a gabion fence

Are the planter stones connected?
If they are simply placed together, there will be movement, so your own suggestions won’t work—just my layman’s opinion.
Gabions or another external cladding made from a different material have already been mentioned. Maybe consider planting something in front of them?
