...please don’t be too hard on me for my question!

We are considering building a house in a bungalow style with a finished attic, where the upper floor would only have rooms for the children, and all the living spaces for us would be on the ground floor.

I personally also like city villas with a recessed upper floor and have seen that they often feature a conservatory, garage, etc., with a hipped roof.

I’m wondering how it would look if the roof were extended at the back from the level where the second floor begins, meaning the house would look like a typical recessed upper floor from the front, but from the side it would appear as if there is a bungalow with a hipped roof added at the back.

I hope you understand what I mean?! I would appreciate any pictures....

Conceptually, you might also imagine it as a bungalow with a steep roof pitch and a "corner dormer."

However, the term

fits quite well, since the roof pitches of the individual sections need to be different, or else it becomes a huge house either in footprint or in height.

If you want to impress me even more, try drawing it from above as well

What exactly do you mean by a corner dormer?

For a roof frame like that, you’d need a carpenter experienced with bat-wing dormers. That comes with premium rates.

Well, what the original poster has in mind might be something like this:

Two-story yellow house with carport, red convertible in front, and a well-maintained hedge in the front yard.

Try searching for "Varioself Toscana" to see if that is what you're looking for.
If so, request the catalogs for inspiration. Only a portion of the houses are available online.

No, Katja, exactly the opposite. The back of the upper floor is meant to be a pure attic space, with an uninterrupted transition of the roof surfaces.

Just quickly sketched:

Brick house with gray roof and green windows on green lawn.

This way, the front keeps the "two-story" character, while the back retains the bungalow-style rear view. At least, that’s how I understand the original poster’s request.
