ᐅ Urban villa with brick cladding – Which facing brick / brick veneer to choose?

Good evening everyone, is it important for a typical detached house, an urban villa, fully faced with brick veneer, to pay attention to whether the bricks are absorbent or not? Some acquaintances said it was important, but they couldn’t explain exactly why. So far, I haven’t read anything about this anywhere. Can someone explain this to me?

Even for an unusual or even very unconventional single-family house, it’s the same: the term refers to how much the brick absorbs the water in the mortar during construction. But there's no need to worry about this—different brick qualities are matched with appropriately formulated mortars. For clay bricks, you would pre-wet them; for facing bricks (also called clinker bricks), this is controlled through the mortar mix itself. It’s nothing complicated. Just choose the facing bricks based on your aesthetic preference, and the masons will handle the rest.
