We have a small dilemma with our upcoming build regarding the color of the windows and roller shutters. We would like to have windows in Winchester color (both sides coated). Unfortunately, the window manufacturer does not offer matching roller shutter slats in that color. Therefore, we are considering choosing the roller shutters in anthracite (the same as the roof). However, we haven’t been able to find any pictures of this combination. Then there is the question of what color the guide rails and the trim should be, as these are available in Winchester.
To summarize, we are currently torn between:
- Winchester windows with roller shutter slats in anthracite. What color should the guide rails and trim be?
- Or quite plain windows in anthracite (coated on one side; white on the other) with roller shutters also in anthracite.
Does anyone perhaps have the same color combination and can offer some advice?

In the end, it means either you take a risk with an experiment that you probably won’t like, or you play it safe with the “boring” combination. You are building an entire house based only on drawings and animations, and you think that the exterior color of the windows, which you don’t even see when you are inside the house, is an experiment? LOLTrust your gut even when it comes to the windows.

So whether it's basalt or anthracite – they all look almost the same, right? Does it really look completely different then? Completely different. Basalt is noticeably lighter. The difference is like orange versus red.
But the house will probably still look similar as long as it is plastered in plain white and has a black roof. I believe the overall appearance depends much more on the rest of the facade and design (including the windows, for example whether they have mullions or not) than on the color of the window frames.

I have two tips:
1. Reduce the amount of plastic used in the house as much as possible.
2. Minimize the variety of wood finishes and grain patterns/structures as much as possible.
Both tend to lower the overall quality. Tom1978 schrieb:
We’re talking about personal taste here. No, not us. I am talking about fundamental design principles (design theory is a subject taught in education 😉)

And yet, taste is still a matter of personal preferenceI really didn’t want to go into this any further... but you’re talking about taste again! There is design just like there is technology. Both have fundamental rules. I mention and point these out. Nothing more, nothing less. And every time, you turn it into a matter of "taste" :p 😎
