We have a small dilemma with our upcoming build regarding the color of the windows and roller shutters. We would like to have windows in Winchester color (both sides coated). Unfortunately, the window manufacturer does not offer matching roller shutter slats in that color. Therefore, we are considering choosing the roller shutters in anthracite (the same as the roof). However, we haven’t been able to find any pictures of this combination. Then there is the question of what color the guide rails and the trim should be, as these are available in Winchester.

To summarize, we are currently torn between:

- Winchester windows with roller shutter slats in anthracite. What color should the guide rails and trim be?
- Or quite plain windows in anthracite (coated on one side; white on the other) with roller shutters also in anthracite.

Does anyone perhaps have the same color combination and can offer some advice?

Only the shutter curtain colored. However, I find anthracite far too dark.

That’s quite unique. Why not go for wooden windows instead? Especially with colored interiors as well. That’s very rare since it usually looks quite unattractive. 😉

That’s really a matter of personal taste. Why not go with wooden windows right away? Especially with colored interiors. That’s extremely rare, usually quite ugly 😉

We saw these windows, among other places, on vacation at the Polish Baltic Sea coast and find them very attractive. Definitely nicer than Golden Oak (grandma windows :-P).

As for the casing, we didn’t necessarily want to add another color. Gray could still be considered.

I had to look it up first.
This is classic wood or wood-grain finish.
Even if you like that style, you should be aware that inside, you have plastic with a wood-look finish, which strongly influences the interior—sometimes negatively. I’m not talking about plastic itself, but rather imitation wood, which can make the interior feel cheap. It’s basically like ready-to-assemble furniture with a wood veneer look.
Regarding the roller shutter color: if the house is plastered white, I would suggest matching that white for the shutters as well. Using a third color would turn the house into a brightly colored mix without intending to.

Even if you like that style, you should be aware that the interior features plastic with a wood look, which strongly influences the interior and not always positively. I’m not criticizing plastic itself, but rather fake wood, which can make the interior appear cheap. It’s basically like furniture with a wood finish made from laminate.
Regarding the shutter color: if the house has a white plaster finish, I would carry the white color over to the shutters as well. Adding a third color would make the house look like a colorful mess, unintentionally.

White roller shutter slats are a no-go for us. It’s similar to white cars—they only look clean right after washing. Since this is a forested area or a community surrounded by forest, the shutters would likely look dirty quite often.

Fake wood is found throughout the house. Whether in kitchen cabinet fronts (usually not solid wood), laminated countertops, wood-look tiles or vinyl flooring, and so on. For us, this would not be a deal breaker.

Then choose a light gray. But please, not anthracite.

Fake wood yes—but it shouldn’t be just cheap plastic foil. And since you’re always close to it, that looks really cheap (which it is, being just plastic foil).
But it would have the advantage that you could furnish a complete apartment including the kitchen for 2,500€ at the cheapest furniture store. The look would match the windows. Sorry, that was harsh...
