Hello everyone,
Since a lot has gone wrong with my construction and I currently find myself standing in front of my... house with little knowledge, throwing my hands up in frustration and pacing around in circles, a question has come up that I hope someone with expertise can answer.
The developer recommended the Creaton Magnum tiles (and as far as I know, they also installed the battens accordingly...), but I have now learned from the building materials supplier that the shaped tiles for this roof are very expensive. After what felt like a hundred inquiries, I finally received addresses of reference buildings. I looked at the tile and I don’t like it!
I have now picked two alternative tiles from sample boards and other reference buildings (Creaton Sinfonie or Creaton Aureus).
Now to my question (I already looked on the Creaton website, but couldn’t understand the terminology):
Exactly what are the battens sized for? On the website, something like 30/50 was mentioned (are these the measurements in millimeters for batten thickness?), for all the tile types mentioned above; so do all of these tiles fit on this batten size? Or do the battens (batten spacing?) have to be adjusted to the tile? If that is the case, how much effort is involved to change the battens afterwards?
So many questions...
My Google and forum searches didn’t find anything useful.
Otherwise, I guess I’ll just bite the bullet and go with the Magnum...
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Danie

Hello Daniel
The numbers 30/50 refer to the thickness of the battens; in the past, 24/48 was still possible, but nowadays that is only suitable for rounded clay roof tiles (e.g., beaver tail tiles).
The batten size is determined by the type of tile, the construction length between the eaves batten and the ridge batten, and the roof pitch.
There are a few tiles that use the same batten size. Re-battening is generally not a major issue.
Best regards, Sven
