Hello dear forum members,
We have purchased a semi-detached house that is still to be built. The construction description includes a central ventilation system with supply and exhaust bends made of spiral ducting. This is planned for the ground floor (kitchen, living room, guest toilet), the first floor (bathroom, bedroom, two children’s rooms), and the attic studio. We would like the basement to be automatically ventilated as well, since a large room in the basement will often be used as a hobby room by an allergy sufferer. Additionally, the basement houses the laundry and utility room, as well as a small extra room for storage or occasional use as a guest bedroom.
The specified unit is the VALLOX controlled residential ventilation 090 SE. Due to our special request, we have been advised to choose a different, more powerful unit: the valloplus se500. According to the manufacturer Heinemann’s website, the first belongs to the professional line category, and the latter to the commercial line:
The first difference I noticed is the power consumption: 900 versus 1000 watts.
Could you help me assess whether
- this more powerful unit is absolutely necessary
- this more powerful unit would be more appropriate (e.g., for comfort)
- the KWL090 SE would be sufficient (and if so, under which circumstances)
- disadvantages and advantages of each?
According to the offer, the price difference for the device is about €700, plus additional installation costs of €100, a lump sum of €565 for “larger dimensions resulting from the bigger ventilation unit,” and a €210 surcharge for insulation of the larger ventilation ducts. Also, individual parts such as spiral ducting, valves, connectors, etc. are estimated to cost €400.
Many thanks to everyone!
