Hello everyone,
We are considering buying a house (already completed). However, there is a mobile phone mast with several antennas about 40 meters (130 feet) away from the house.
Buy or leave it? How would you decide?

In 2005, the Ramazzini Institute began a lifelong study on Sprague-Dawley rats to investigate the carcinogenic effects of radiofrequency radiation. This study has now been completed and encourages a reconsideration of the classification of radiofrequency radiation as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B). Already in the early 2000s, studies were published showing that people who use mobile phones have a significantly increased risk of developing schwannomas (benign tumors originating from the peripheral nervous system) and brain tumors. More recent case-control studies also confirm this increased risk. Experimental studies, however, were largely insufficient due to too short exposure durations, too few test animals, or inappropriate exposure conditions. In contrast, the Ramazzini Institute’s study involved a total of 2448 test animals.

I wouldn’t want to have something like that right next to me, and if more people think the same way, it could lower the value of your property if you ever want to sell it... but if you don’t mind, then it shouldn’t bother you.
According to studies (which can be found in the book The Anti-Cancer Diet), talking on a mobile phone directly next to your head increases the risk of brain tumors. Therefore, it’s recommended to keep the phone away during longer calls or use a headset.
However, since the phone/radiation is directly at your head, I think the exposure from a cell tower near your house should be safe, but I would still feel a bit uneasy...

In city centers, the average distance between transmission masts is about 200m (220 yards). This means that 40% of the people living there are 40m (130 feet) or closer to a mast. Most of them are unaware of this, as transmitting equipment can also be located beneath roof tiles.

Then almost all houses and apartments in cities would be unsellable. In urban areas, you can probably see a mast within 100cm (39 inches) from almost any point. Nobody cares about that. It also doesn’t affect property values—except maybe for the minority of people who have an irrational fear but at the same time spend hours on their cell phones...

If I had a choice, it would be a deal-breaker for me.
