Hello everyone,

we are currently planning the ceiling spotlights but are having a hard time making a decision.

Here are our ideas.

What do you think, or do you have better suggestions?

Option 1

2D floor plan of a house with open living and dining area, kitchen, and stairs

Option 2

2D floor plan of a living and dining area with open kitchen, seating area, and red outline

Option 3

Floor plan of an open living and kitchen area with dining table and seating

Thank you.

I would go with option 1. It makes the most sense spatially.

I would consider whether it makes sense to move the two leftmost spots in the top row of version 1 down by one row. That way, you would also have lighting above the coffee table. Provided, of course, that the sofa is placed along the south wall and the TV is on the wall next to the technical room (TRH).
I don't really see the point of placing a spot above the TV.

Is the furniture layout actually going to be like that, or was it just drawn that way by the designer? That would be interesting to know.

Thank you for the feedback. No, the furniture will not look like that in the end; it was just drawn that way by the designer.

Hello,

that definitely depends on how your furniture is arranged. Therefore, the question cannot be answered without a specific furniture layout. Secondly, you should consider what you want to achieve with the lighting. Do you want subtle lighting behind the sofa when watching TV in the evening, or do you often read books, which would require brighter light? Do you sometimes need more light in the living room for gatherings, for example when an additional table is set up for guests on a birthday? And so on.

Then you can think about where lighting would make sense, and after that, you should consider which fixtures to install. Important factors here are the light color, brightness (lumens), and beam angle.

... and in connection with the beam angle, also the ceiling height.

I would also lean toward V1, but I think that with the standard off-the-shelf recessed downlights, the maximum brightness would be too low for me. Therefore: Which lamps are planned?

Good luck
