Hello,
I have been a silent reader for a long time and would now like to ask you about a question that is very important to me.

I want to fill a cavity located above the staircase (marked in red) on the neighbor’s side of the semi-detached house, not along the entire roof. This cavity amplifies sound, so I would like to fill it with glass wool insulation. However, this cavity is located (from the inside) below the vapor control layer, and I am not sure if filling it with glass wool is safe in this situation.

The cavity has an area of approximately 2m² (21.5 sq ft) and is bordered on one side by a plastered calcium silicate block wall facing the neighbor, and on our side by a similar wall. It has a low height of about 60cm (24 inches) at the peak. At the bottom, towards the staircase, the cavity is closed off with gypsum board (+ painter’s fleece/painted). I want to fill it completely using Isover partition wall acoustic board TP1. The vapor control layer is from Knauf, probably the Insulation version.

The attic is continuously heated in winter, but since it is empty, the room temperature is around 20–21°C (68–70°F).

Thank you very much for your advice.
