ingolfomas8 Dec 2023 14:26Hello,
I am new here and, as a layperson, I am dealing with the re-roofing of my carport in SPAIN.
The carport is irregularly shaped with the following dimensions: 7.50 meters (rear) x 4.90 meters (one side), 3.80 meters (other side) x 5.50 meters (front). The frame is made of steel slats measuring 4 x 10 cm (width x height). The carport is open on all four sides.
So far, I had a fabric cover used in boat construction, but this was not a long-term solution. Now I want to use a different material. It should be durable, resistant to fading or discoloration under the intense sunlight. Something like transparent plexiglass or acrylic glass would be ideal.
We have a major problem here: when it does rain, very often Sahara sand is mixed in the rainwater, which is very difficult to remove when dry. Therefore, the material should be easy to clean, for example with a pressure washer. Snow loads are not a concern, but it can get stormy with hurricane-like winds at times, so break resistance and proper fastening are important.
Please share your experiences and advice with me. I am happy to answer any further detailed questions.
Thank you very much

ingolfomas8 Dec 2023 17:50Hi Hanghaus2023,
the slope is only 1cm (0.4 inches) to the front (from where the photo was taken).
I would like to raise it about 5cm (2 inches) at the back, near the natural stone wall, possibly using spacer screws.
Best regards,
ingolfomas
