Hey,

now that the carport is built, I’m thinking about the best way to install lighting there.
Do you have any tips or even pictures of how you have done it? Motion sensors in the carport and/or switched lighting. How many power outlets do you usually install? For LED light strips, what size/length would you recommend?
Thanks

I mounted a motion detector on the left side of a crossbeam. Then, I screwed a 2.00-meter (6.6 feet) wide moisture-resistant LED strip under the first front cross brace. As soon as I drive into the carport, the light turns on and switches off after about 40 seconds. I installed the power outlets just to the right behind the door on the supporting post. There is also a potential wallbox cable already in place there.

Thanks for sharing. Which BMW do you have? Since I have a "drive-through" carport, I was also thinking about permanent lighting, for example, when sitting there or quickly moving from the terrace if it starts to rain.
I could also install a Hue outdoor LED strip. Is that a stop line on the ground?

Hello,

correct. This way, neither my wife nor I will end up hitting the wall in the end.
BWM and LED strip see attachment.

Exterior area: gray wall, dark metal frame, door with louvers, outdoor camera.

Thank you. Does that look like a Steinel motion sensor? I only see LED strips that are all somehow less than 2m (6.5 feet). What exactly is the LED strip? Manufacturer or store? Thanks

You’re right, it is only 1477 mm (58 inches) long. 🙂 Sorry, I didn’t measure it myself this time.
