Hello,
I am planning a carport for my new build, see attachment.
Originally, a side length of 7 m (23 feet) was planned next to the neighbor’s property, but this could be extended to almost 9 m (30 feet).
The carport should be freestanding (prefabricated house). Between the carport and the house wall, I am planning a row of laminated safety clear glass panels for daylighting.
Currently, I am considering how to best design the overall layout in terms of length, incorporating a garden shed. I think parking two cars side by side might be too tight?
One idea would also be to place a parking space on the north side facing the street.
I would appreciate your general feedback, experiences, and tips.
Best regards

I am a fan of open driveway entrances and carports. As a result, I agree with your suggestion of a column spacing of six meters (20 feet) on center.https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/

allstar8312 Oct 2023 20:00Removing the platform has already been mentioned. Honestly, instead of focusing on a car parking space under the carport, I would consider where to store bicycles and children’s items. I don’t think a car always needs to be covered – at least not here. A parking space in front is more than enough. Build a proper shed, whether on the side or at the back, and think carefully about its use. Really plan this thoroughly to avoid daily frustration.
If necessary, also consider including an enclosure or cover for the trash bins. A metal enclosure for these can easily cost around 2,000 euros, which you would have to build yourself otherwise.
