Hello,

My girlfriend insists on installing carpet in our kitchen. I find that impractical because if something drops, it immediately leaves a stain.

How can I convince her to change her mind?

Do you have any advice?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Roman,

A carpet floor in the kitchen looks really unpleasant. When frying, grease splashes out of the pan and lands on the carpet. Very quickly it looks dirty. Talk this through with them, because no one will be happy with a carpet in the kitchen.

The carpet in the kitchen doesn’t stay clean for long and gets dirty quickly. That’s why I don’t use carpet in the kitchen. The kitchen floor needs to be something that can be wiped quickly and easily. So just talk it through.

Hello Roman,

I can understand your friend not wanting a PVC floor. It really isn’t a nice look. But carpet is not a good solution either. Or you could install laminate flooring in the kitchen. It feels warm underfoot, and laminate always looks clean.

Hi,
In my old kitchen, we had carpet flooring. However, I removed it quickly. After a short time, it developed stains, which is unavoidable in a kitchen. Something can always fall, and it then leaves permanent marks on the carpet. So, not a good idea.

Hello,

If your girlfriend insists on having a carpet in the kitchen, she should choose one that can be washed. There are also runners, which can be easily machine-washed. In my opinion, this is better than a glued-in carpet.
