Hello,
we are building with Team Massivhaus in Pinneberg. Originally, we planned to finish our house (with a Dutch gable) using brick cladding on the ground floor and render on the upper floor. However, our architect said that the Dutch gable can only have one of these finishes and recommended using render only. I am starting to doubt whether that would still look good.
My question: Is it really not possible to do a half-and-half finish on the gable? Is there any good (free) software for easily designing a house exterior? (Our builder does not offer this.) I have already searched for photos online, but apparently we are the first to have this request.
The height between the windows (on the ground floor) and the roof (or eaves) is very important to me because a small distance looks very cramped. Is it possible to simply raise the ground floor by, for example, 10cm (4 inches), or would that only be feasible with very high costs? (Another idea would be to raise the knee wall, but Team Massivhaus says this would only be possible with reinforced concrete, which involves high costs.)
