Hello everyone,
I was advised to have a video pipe inspection carried out in my house from the 1960s, since the pipes are quite old and probably have had little water flow over the past few years. I don’t have any general wastewater issues.
Unfortunately, I can’t really assess the usefulness of this. Is it worthwhile? Does it make sense?
Best regards
Tassimat

I would be interested to know how much the inspection cost and what price was estimated for the renovation. Maybe you could share that information, that would be great.
Thanks for the information; that already gives me a rough idea. We will probably have the inspection done next year and then take it from there. Thankfully, the distance between our house and the property boundary at the front is only about 4-5 meters (13-16 feet). However, our wastewater runs through the basements of two neighbors, and the pipes only join together in the garden of the neighbor two properties down. I have no idea how something like that is managed if any work needs to be done.
Especially since our street was completely renovated about 10 years ago. It would have been better to have done it properly back then and given each house its own connection. We have a detached house, and then there are two row houses and another detached house, and all of them share the same wastewater system.

As mentioned, it is legally mandatory depending on the state by date X.
Ah, I just double-checked. I had already researched this before buying the house, among other things, so several years ago. Since then, at least for our federal state, it has been clarified by public authorities that the obligation to have the inspection done by deadline X does not apply to private households. Okay, I didn’t know that; I hadn’t reviewed it again in the meantime.
