ᐅ Filling a hole in an interior wall with XPS insulation boards?

Hello,

since the gutter in the cavity wall has been more or less leaking for years, I would now like to move it completely outside in front of the brickwork. The insulation will be replaced because it is wet.

There are tiles on the terrace, which I also want to extend over the cavity wall (old gutter) into the new gutter. My idea was to glue XPS boards inside the cavity wall and apply a waterproofing slurry on top, possibly followed by screed, tile adhesive, and tiles. Or what would you suggest?

Unfortunately, it’s becoming more and more unclear. We need photos—of the overall situation, not close-up shots of the gutter.
Perhaps also schematic drawings from above and the side, including dimensions and a site plan.

Should I now take a photo into a hole? As shown in the picture, there is a tiled terrace on one side and on the other side currently an angle where the brickwork is protected from rain. Next to it, it goes down 1.30 meters (4 feet 3 inches).

The photo shows a close-up of an Aco Drain channel.

There is also a text about a double-wall structure, a terrace, a hole, and a gutter.

Who is supposed to make sense of this?

- WHERE is the Aco Drain channel located? On the wall? In front of the wall?
- WHERE exactly is the mentioned hole?
- WHERE does the water flow due to the leak?
- WHERE exactly are the tiles supposed to be installed?
- WHERE is the gutter supposed to go?

No one here can read your mind. That’s why a picture is worth a thousand words—especially if it helps answer the above questions.

… you took a close-up shot of the resting stage. Neither a terrace, wall, nor brickwork is visible.

It really doesn’t matter where the Aco Drain channel is located or where the water runs off. The channel and drain come out of the double-walled masonry, and the drainage system will be completely rebuilt. In other words, a gutter will be installed in front of the brickwork, and tiles will be installed on top. The only question is how to properly build up the structure when the top of a double-walled masonry is sealed.

You asked for help, and from just an image of a channel, it’s hard to imagine the rest based only on a verbal description. Meaningful assistance can only be provided if the situation is clearly understood.
It’s not just one user requesting more visual information, so it can’t be completely unimportant.
Otherwise, my advice is to get a suitable professional to come to your home.

If it really doesn’t matter, then why are you sending us a photo of it?
Better show us the things that actually do matter!

Do you want to cover the wall coping with sloped tiles, placing the gutter on the lower side of the slope?
Does the space between the walls mean the gap with the hole?
